motown's 50th anniversary celebration kickoff
On Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, Berry Gordy and a host of Motown All-Stars celebrated the kickoff of Motown's golden anniversary at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. Guests included Smokey Robinson, the Marvalettes, the Miracles, and Teena Marie, with special performances by the Miracles and Teena Marie.
"We're going to be doing a lot of special events as the next two years roll out and this is where it all began." said Suzanne de Passe, president of de Passe Entertainment.
The evening was filled with the spirit of a legendary musical era that marked a pivotal time in American and entertainment history.
