Hundreds of savvy, business women made their way to the Hyatt Regency
Chicago, for the Smart Women Smart Money symposium, presented by Illinois
state treasurer, Alexi Giannoulias. Giannoulias The conference was a unique
opportunity for women to discourse about financial issues, network with other
business women and showcase their businesses.
“In this era of easy credit, home foreclosures, and record bankruptcy filings,
we need to give women the tools to make smart financial decisions,” Giannoulias
shares. “Our goal with the Smart Women Smart Money conference is to
help women feel more secure and succeed financially in the future.”
Dominga Cortes Johnson, owner of Mi Spa in Chicago’s South Loop; received
the 2007 Woman on the Rise Award. Stephanie Neely, City of Chicago treasurer
and former vice president of Northern Trust Global Investments won the 2007
Woman of Excellence Award.
The distinguished panel of financial experts included Gail Perry-Mason, vice
president of investments at Oppenheimer & Co. and author of the best-seller
“Girl, Make Your Money Grow” and Bernadine Jackson-Kelley, vice president
and senior portfolio manager of The Northern Trust.
