Financial advisory firm Edward Jones crossed industry lines by mixing fashion with the world of finance. On Sunday, Sept. 23, they hosted the "Making Sense of Investing Fall Fashion and Finance Show" at the Detroit Renaissance Marriott Hotel.
"What we did," explains Edward Jones financial advisor Janan Cullins, "was, we took fashion and we took finance; it's important that not only do we look nice, but we also have to have our bank accounts look nice as well. It's absolutely imperative that we take back what's ours, and that's wealth building and capturing our financial freedom."
By showcasing an elite selection of Detroit designers, Edward Jones creatively mixed fundamental wealth building segments with a visually stunning runway show. The show featured a special performance by Atlanta recording artist Dionna Martin and a dazzling array of fall designs from designers such as the Tayion Collection, Mark Englund, Couture, Vintage ET, Silver Fox Furs and House of Cedi.
Many in attendance felt the firm's decision was a stroke of genius.
"What was really awesome for me outside of being a producer and a designer that participated in the show," says House of Cedi designer Cedi, "is the fact that Edward Jones came together and introduced a new approach to finance. The people that came here to enjoy the fashion show and the salute to all the black designers out of Detroit, left with some knowledge about investing and that's what it was all about." - janaya black
