Presi?One week before students were scheduled to return for the 2007-08 school year, T.I. and the K.I.N.G. Foundation held a back to school celebration at Fred A. Toomer Elementary in Atlanta. During the celebration, students participated in games and were given free book bags, pencils and notebooks. The Dekalb County Health Department was also onsite to and provided free dental, vision and general health screenings, as well as immunization shots for the students.
The multiplatinum selling rap artist used the opportunity to motivate the students on the importance of working hard in school. "I feel that the importance of an education is a fact that needs to be stressed to the youngsters today," T.I. said. "I'm all about furthering the education of the youth. That's [what is] missing today. The kids in the hood need help more than anybody else. That's what we're here for. They had all summer to have fun, but it's time for them to get their minds ready to have a great school year." -amir shaw
