frank ski kids foundation takes students to the amazon

award

Frank Ski continues to display a level of compassion consistent with his long-standing reputation for community service. As the longtime voice of Atlanta morning radio, Ski has brokered his infl uence to not only establish the Frank Ski Kids Foundation, but to also broaden the horizons of Atlanta’s rich cadre of future leaders.

A prime example of Ski’s commitment to “generation next” was evidenced in a recent trip to the Amazon with 11 gifted students. Shortly before Ski departed with the students for what he labeled “Project Amazon,” the radio host and philanthropist stressed the importance of instilling environmental values in today’s youth.

“Our youth need to think different[ly] than we did,” he explained. “We were the generation that abused all of the privileges that people left us, and now it’s time for us to instill in our children a sense of responsibility.”

That task shouldn’t fall solely on Ski’s shoulders. That’s why initiatives like this are so important — they light a fi re of compassion that continues to spread throughout the community, encouraging other infl uential men and women to also give of themselves for the benefit of a brighter tomorrow. For that, we salute him. -dewayne rogers
