the community college of philadelphia celebrates success
Over 1,800 students from the Community College of Philadelphia celebrated their academic achievements at the school’s 42nd commencement ceremony. Held at Temple University’s Liacouras Center where Mayor Michael A. Nutter delivered a pointed and challenging keynote address, the college also presented an honorary doctorate to City Council President Anna C. Verna who has been a staunch advocate for education for many years.
“We’re all proud of you on this day,” Mayor Michael A. Nutter said. “We all face challenges and sometimes we have to take a look back in order to look forward. College graduation is a time when we can take a look back. This is not the end. It’s not even the beginning of the end. But it is perhaps the end of the beginning. There’s more to be done and your learning should never stop. You should continue on your educational journey. I’m hopeful for our future. Keep working hard to make the city of Philadelphia proud.” –amir shaw
