Sen. Barack Obama wins North Carolina Primary
in the news
RALEIGH, N.C. – A typhoon of human emotions gushed from the frenzied throng and flooded over Sen. Barack Obama after he delivered Sen. Hillary Clinton a decisive and unequivocal defeat in the delegate-rich North Carolina primary Tuesday evening. The junior senator from Illinois edges closer to the nomination for the Democratic Party after posting a 58-44 percent win over the Clinton campaign in the Tar Heel state.
The packed gymnasium on the campus of North Carolina State University percolated with renewed optimism after Obama extolled the crowed with virtues of optimism and collectivism in returning the country to the place of infinite possibilities. He appears to have partially repaired his campaign from the national fallout stemming from the incendiary proclamations from his former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Adding to Obama’s fortunes was the extremely close loss to Clinton in Indiana – after she expected a double-digit win, but won only 51-49 percent – and the legion of superdelegates who are throwing their support behind Obama and calling for the New York senator and former First Lady to terminate her race for the nomination. – terry shropshire
