jay-z and beyoncé
tie the knot …
we think
word on the street
Did they or didn’t they? That’s been the question that the entire entertainment community has been asking over the course of the last month or so. Superstar couple Jay-Z (née Shawn Carter) and his longtime lady, Beyoncé Knowles, were rumored to have tied the knot in New York Friday, April 4. A swarm of media camped outside of the building where the supposed nuptials took place, snapping pictures and shouting at any sport-utility vehicle suspected of transporting the couple that drove down the cobblestone streets.
People and Us Weekly, citing unnamed sources, reported that the couple married and threw a lavish, but small party at their apartment. Celebrities such as Kelly Rowland, Gwyneth Paltrow and others were spotted heading into the building, fanning the media frenzy on the sidewalk below.
Both Knowles and Jay-Z’s representatives declined comment, but Ms. Knowles (Mrs. Carter?) was spotted at Jay-Z’s and diva Mary J. Blige’s concert at Philips Arena in Atlanta the following Tuesday sporting a noticeably large rock on her finger as she waved to the crowd. For now, no one has officially said ‘I did’ to ‘I do.’ Whether or not they did actually tie the knot, the twosome has already joined the ranks of the most obsessively-reported on couples in Hollywood, right up there with Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith or Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. All they need is a cool mash-up of a nickname —“Jiggayoncé,” maybe? –todd williams
