Mellody Hobson delivers keynote address

The crowd gave a standing ovation at the University of Illinois Chicago to show their appreciation for the informative and motivational presentations on building family wealth. Service providers ranging from Century 21 to local financial assistance companies were there to help deflect any apprehensions regarding homeownership. The Chase Manhattan Bank Legacy of Homeownership Tour provided the Chicago community with up-to-the minute information and in-depth instruction on homeownership in today’s housing crisis.

Chase invited national speaker, Mellody Hobson, to share herexpert advice and discuss the value of understanding the intircacies of homeownership and becoming financially literate. Hobson is a nationally recogized financial adviser and is best known for her ability to relate complicated information in common terms to assist middle-income individuals and families in accumulating wealth.

Through their partnership with Freddie Mac® and the leadership of Chase vice president Veronica Seale, it was evident in the smiles and the flurries of “thank you Chase” that this program is vital to the African American community.

“It was a more a moving event than I could even imagine,” said Seale. “Despite the rain, despite the drop in temperature, people came out and they got what’s good for their soul. They got nutrition   — nutrition in the form of financial information, empowerment and education. You can’t get better than that.”
