ATLANTA – Scrumptious cuisine and delectable desert dishes serenaded the senses of the many urban sophisticates who poured into the Atlanta Civic Center. Soulful, soothing sounds of jazz swirled through the spring air like a light breeze caressing your skin. The upscale gala at the Boisfuillet Jones Center, which signifies the 31-day cultural explosion called the annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, is tantamount to the blooming of flowers and indicates the onset of spring.

The event, which spans the entire month of May, will build to a crescendo with musical fireworks on Memorial Day. “It’s all over the metro Atlanta area — in bars, in restaurants, at the museums and the airport. There’s going to be jazz everywhere,” says Camille Russell Love, director of the Office of Cultural Affairs for the city of Atlanta.
Presided over by the Honorable Mayor Shirley Franklin and the Office of Cultural Affairs, the preview party for the 30th annual citywide music festival featured culinary delights by restauranteurs from Verve, Michon’s, Justin’s, Dailey’s and Armaan restaurants. Sponsors for the upcoming festival include Delta Airlines, Budweiser Select, 107.5 WJZZ, 91.9, MARTA and JazzTimes.com. –terry shropshire
