The worlds of music and fashion converged at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom during the taping of BET’s “Rip the Runway ‘08.” In its fourth year, this year’s show was executively produced by music mogul turned fashion designer Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Co-hosted by actress Lauren London and Nelly, the season’s latest fashions from Zac Posen, Amaya Swimwear, Monif C and Sixxfotta were showcased to the standing room-only crowd. Celebs such as “106 & Park” hosts Terrence J. and Rocsi, “The Wire’s” Felicia “Snoop” Pearson and former “America’s Next Top Model” contestants Bianca Golden, Tocarra Jones and Jazlene Gonzalez all took to the catwalk.

Music and fashion collided as several recording artists, including Cassie, Charlie Baltimore and newcomers Estelle and Teyana Taylor, strutted their stuff down the runway. Artists such as Diddy, Missy Elliott and Nelly took things to the next level by showcasing their own designs with their Sean John, Respect M.E. and Apple Bottoms lines, respectively. Snoop Dogg made things a family affair as he showcased his line, Rich & Infamous, while supporting his wife Shanté’s fashion debut, with her new clothing line, Co Co Ri.

“We’re just trying to come out here as husband and wife and push something out there for the people …,” he explained. “It’s a group thing right here.”

Performances by Webbie, Trey Songz, Snoop Dogg and Flo Rida, who was joined on stage by T-Pain for their hit collaboration, “Get Low” kept things lively. Fans of Diddy’s “Making the Band” show were delighted when Bad Boy’s newly-named boy band, Day 26, hit the stage. –ivory m. jones
