and fashions General Motors combined rock stars, models and fly cars to create the ultimate style-extravaganza. The GM Style event served as the official kick-off for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Mary J. Blige, who opened the show with a medley of soulful hits, was accompanied on the runway by a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette and models wearing fashions from Kevan Hall and the Russell Simmon’s Argyle Culture collections. Maroon 5 and hometown favorite Kid Rock also performed at the premier event.

GM’s featured autos included the Buick Riviera Concept, Cadillac CTS, Escalade Platinum, Saturn Sky Red Line, and the Chevrolet ZRI.

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick said the show represents the essence of Detroit. “It was Detroit doing what it does best,” he said. “We had cars, stars, homegrown talent and people of all ethnicities in the same place, enjoying what took place. This is what our community is all about.” – amir shaw
