advance wars: days of ruin
Publisher: Nintendo
Genre: Turn-based Strategy
Platform: Nintendo DS
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is the fourth game in this excellent strategy series. If you have any interest at all in turn-based war gaming, you should add this game to your collection. The game pits two to four armies, consisting of various air, ground, and sea units against each other. The objective of every battle can vary, but usually involves destroying all of the enemy units or capturing the enemy’s headquarters. Sounds relatively simple, but when you factor in the wide variety of units and many different situations you’ll face, you begin to realize just how deep this game really is. The addition of new game-play features that allow units to level up during battle, adds a whole new layer of strategy. Unlike previous games in this series, this new edition has a darker story line and a new set of commanding officers to lead your armies, which I’m sure most fans will enjoy. The AI also seems to have been turned up a notch or two making Advance Wars: Days of Ruin not only the most challenging game in the series, but the best strategy game for the DS. –dark abyss
