In this week’s edition of ro rides, we review three motorcycles that are designed for those who are brave enough to delve into superior speed and power.

2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14

Kawasaki continues their tradition of sleek and swift motorcycles with the Ninja ZX-14. The ZX-14 boasts 166.8 horsepower and 102 pound-feet of torque. In sixth gear, the ZX-14 reaches up to 185 mph. By narrowing the engine and adding low footpegs, the 2008 ZX-14 provides a comfortable riding position that allows riders to have more leg room than was available on the 2007 model. It also has a monocoque design and a lighter aluminum frame that improves aerodynamics.

2008 Suzuki Hayabusa

Since becoming Suzuki’s franchise model in 1999, the Hayabusa has remained a top choice for motorcycle enthusiasts. Some of the Hayabusa’s new features include a DOHC liquid-cooled engine with 16-valves, an SDTV fuel-injection system, and a Drive Mode Selector that allows riders to switch engine settings. The 2008 model produces a glorious 179 horsepower and 110 pound-feet of torque.

2008 Ducati 1098R

Ducati has marketed the 2008 1098R as the quintessential super bike. It does an outstanding job of holding that title by offering an improved 1198cc engine that produces 189 horsepower and 101 pound-feet of torque. The added power is enhanced by a 30 percent reduction in the weight of the exhaust system. Although the lack of style takes away from its appeal, the 1098R makes up for it by being one of the speediest bikes of 2008.
