super cars of the NFL

rides w/amir shaw

Every professional football player owns a car that fits his off-season style and personality. But what would happen if those players had to equate their gridiron performance with an automobile? In this week’s edition of ro rides, we compare a few of the stars of Super Bowl XLII with the top cars of 2008.

Randy Moss of the New England Patriots – SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo

Randy Moss’ astonishing combination of speed and athleticism makes him the hardest receiver in the NFL to defend. In a league replete with amazing talent, Moss remains in a class of his own. Like Moss, the SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo doesn’t have much competition. In 2007, it became the world’s fastest car when it clocked in at a top speed of 255.83 mph. Try defending that with a cover two defense.

Tom Brady of the New England Patriots – Bentley Continental GTC

Tom Brady walks to the line of scrimmage with the confidence and grace of an architect on the verge of building a masterpiece. His calm demeanor rivals that of a Bentley Continental GTC. The GTC comes equipped with luxurious bucket seats and a flush-fitting leather tonneau cover. But you shouldn’t lose focus with the aesthetics, the GTC can outrun some of the top speedsters by accelerating to a maximum speed of 195 mph.

Osi Umenyiora of the New York Giants – Porsche Cayenne

Osi Umenyiora has proven to be the ultimate quarterback destroyer by compiling 13 sacks in 2007. The quickness that he uses to beat offensive linemen is similar to that of the Porsche Cayenne. Although the Cayenne weighs in at 5,191 pounds, it reaches a top speed of 175 mph. It’s an ideal representation of a stylish road warrior.

Eli Manning of the New York Giants – Chrysler 300

Some believe that Eli Manning has finally stepped out of his older brother’s shadow by reaching Super Bowl XLII. But just as the Chrysler 300 will always be considered an off-brand version of the Bentley, Eli will have to go a long way to surpass Peyton. However, Eli and the Chrysler 300 still pack a powerful punch. The Chrysler 300 comes with a 3.5 liter V-8 Hemi engine. So you can never count these two out.
