The results are finally in. That’s right, the braintrust here at ro argued, fussed and fought until we finally reached a consensus on the sexiest man and woman of 2007. Taking a long look back on the many milestones and career accomplishments that took place over the past calendar year, many of today’s most popular stars had one thing in common: They all looked damned good doing what they do. From Denzel to Halle, to Beyoncé and Terrence Howard, the competition was fierce this year. But two people rose to the top and earned the distinction of being crowned rolling out’s Sexiest Man and Woman of 2007. Drumroll please:

Idris Elba: It was hard to ignore the rise and fall of Idris Elba in 2007. The rise came in the form of Elba exploding on the big screen with strong performances in Daddy’s Little Girl, American Gangster and This Christmas. The fall … well, that came from the throngs of women who swooned at the mere mention of Elba’s name. I guess being tall, dark and handsome only helps with the ladies. Oh, and let’s not forget the British accent, which seems to drive even the most composed women crazy. I will say this: as much as we men would like to hate, we can’t. Props to you Mr. Elba. You’ve worked hard to earn your title. Congrats.

Lauren London: (Be still my heart.) I’m sorry. I needed a moment to regain my composure. You see I, along with a large majority of the male populace get flustered every time London either graces the big screen or strolls down the red carpet. We first fell in love with London in the surprise hit ATL. It was here that she won not only T.I.’s heart, but also every other human being in possession of a Y chromosome. And who could forget her being Turtle’s girlfriend on the popular HBO series, “Entourage,” or her turn as Mel in This Christmas. Both were simply breathtaking. So Ms. London, New New, or whatever name you’re responding to these days, on behalf of the male staff at ro, and every other man who’s ever been captivated by your transcendent beauty and irresistible dimples … thank you. - dewayne rogers
