keke palmer - a nice change of pace

Actress, Recording Artist

For actress KeKe Palmer, life couldn’t be better. Not only has she wowed the world with her on-screen magnetism in popular flicks like Akeelah and the Bee and Madea’s Family Reunion, she now has a chance to live out her dream of being an accomplished singer. That’s what happens when Atlantic Records signs you to a record deal and releases a highly anticipated debut album entitled So Uncool. For Palmer, the ability to express herself in this manner serves as a welcomed change of pace.

“I always knew that I wanted to sing,” Palmer reveals. “Ever since I was little that was my dream. The acting kind of came out of nowhere, but it actually helped me get to this point where I can actually live out my dream of being a singer.”

Palmer’s realization of her dream is buoyed not only by her sweet voice and undeniable star appeal, but also by an album theme that is all too relatable. “The album is called So Uncool, and to me that just means being different, being yourself and letting your light shine,” the multitalented entertainer explains. “Some people try to make you believe that being yourself is so uncool. But to me, that is the ultimate form of being cool.”

So, will the hype surrounding her musical debut sway Palmer from pursuing an Academy Award one day? “Absolutely not,” she says adamantly. “I’d love to do both, and I’m thankful that I can. In fact, I have a new movie coming out next year with Samuel L. Jackson called The Cleaner. It’s a really good movie, and I’m excited to have people see it, just like I’m excited for people to listen to my music.” - dewayne rogers
