Immediately following legendary girl group TLC's announcement of their talent search television show "R U the Girl," many fans were outraged thinking they were trying to replace the late dynamic Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. When Tiffany "O'so Krispie" Baker was named the winner, the rumors grew wings and landed on gossip sites.

"I didn't know T-Boz [Tionne Watkins] or Chilli [Rozonda Thomas] and had never previously met them before I got on the show," says O so Krispie of the controversy. "There was a misconception that I was in the group. I was never in the group. The winner of the show would record a single and perform live with them on national television, which is exactly what they fulfilled. After we walked off the stage, everyone presses forth on their solo careers."

A big component of what helped Krispie captivate fans and eventually TLC was not only her eclectic vocal style, but also her energetic dancing.

"My shows are very dancey - very production-driven shows," explains Krispie. "Even if it's a smaller venue, you're going to see a lot dancing. You'll see more things around that aspect, as well [as] me singing [and] rapping within the same song. [There are] a lot of artists who can rap and sing, sing one song and rap the other. They don't usually do both. "

Krispie is currently embarking on a promotional tour for her new single, "Roll with You," and her debut album is set to hit stores later this year. -adam jones
