Actor, Things We Lost In the Fire
Omar B. Miller is going places. The affable actor of 8 Mile and Get Rich or Die Tryin' fame is quietly taking Hollywood by storm and becoming one of Tinseltown's most in-demand character actors. "The most significant work that I've had was 8 Mile because it really put me on a grand scale worldwide," says the California native. "It put me in a position where the whole world got to see me - and they liked me. That's a great memory for people to have."
Since that breakthrough, Miller has consistently wowed audiences in fare ranging from slapstick comedies, (American Pie Presents: Band Camp); to heavy drama, (Man of God).
Miller was bitten by the acting bug while attending San Jose State University in the 1990s. "My junior year in college, I was 'Top Ramen' broke," he says, laughing. "I had a teacher help me out and get me an audition with a film in the Bay Area called Obstacles, starring E-40 and The Click." From there, inspired by legendary talents such as Sidney Poitier, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Paul Newman, Miller began acting in the theater and found it was something that he really enjoyed.
Now, Miller is awaiting the release of his directorial debut, Gordon Glass, and his new film, Things We Lost In the Fire, starring opposite Academy Award® winners Benicio Del Toro and Halle Berry. "People are going to see some great performances," confirms Miller. "It's a story of loss and dealing with that loss - redemption and second chances, [things] that everybody can relate to." - todd williams
