Actor
Carl Weathers has brought some of film’s most memorable
tough guys to the big screen. In 1987, he was
the stern and steady Lt. Dillon in the action sci-fi classic
Predator. A year later, he was the titular character in the
cop flick, Action Jackson; and who could possibly forget
his infamous turn as the swaggering champ Apollo
Creed in the Rocky series. For those who’ve followed
Weathers’ career over the years, he’s always been an
entertaining presence on-screen. Even when he began
to test his comedic chops in slapstick fare like Happy
Gilmore, Weathers was infinitely watchable.
“It’s important to try and stay versatile,” explains
Weathers. “That’s the name of the game, really.”
In his latest film, the sports spoof The Comebacks,
Weathers stars as football-obsessed coach Freddie Wiseman.
“His priorities are all wrong,” explains Weathers.
“And I think that by the end of the film, everyone realizes
Coach Wiseman is a little insane!”
