As the reigning queens of contemporary gospel, Mary Mary has spent the better part of the past eight years cultivating a spiritual and soulful sound that has the uncanny ability to move anyone within earshot. Sisters Erica and Tina are returning in the fall with their latest album, The Sound. 
It’s been three years since their last full-length studio album, but the ladies have been extremely busy getting healthy, spreading the Word, and keeping up with this election thing everyone’s talking about. – dusty culpepper

ro: Why was it important for you to take part in the Health Challenge on BET?
Erica: It started with us changing our diet, and it allowed us to totally revamp our outlook [as far as] what’s healthy. [Healthy] is having mental clarity, looking good, sleeping well, and not having to take a gang of medication because you’re not feeling well.
Tina: Eating right and staying healthy makes a huge difference. You want to put your body in a position to heal itself.

ro: You guys performed at Tom Joyner’s Family Reunion. How important are events like the Reunion?
Tina: I think it brings our people together for a great purpose. [Giving] back to make sure people have the necessary funds they need, is amazing.

ro: What are your feelings on the election and Barack Obama’s run for the White House?
Erica: It’s historic, it’s inspiring [and] it’s encouraging. I think it’s doing wonderful things for people of color. It’s absolutely wonderful.
Tina: He’s poised, he’s intelligent. He represents his family well. It’s a wonderful thing.
