On-Air Personality, 95.5 The Beat
Success comes naturally for some people. Take 95.5 The Beat's Murph Dawg, for instance. For him, winning is what he knows best. As half of the "Murph Dawg & CJ in the Morning" show for Atlanta's new No. 1 hip-hop station, Murph Dawg has given listeners something great to wake up to for the past year.
"It's all about being able to have a voice, clown around, entertain and be fun," the talented personality explains. "I feel like [this is] my calling. I was always a joker in my family, so this is what I decided to do."
A New York native, Murph Dawg first earned his chops in radio over 11 years ago while interning at the same Long Island station where Jennifer Lopez's sister, Linda, served as program director. After working his way up through the ranks, and eventually landing a fulltime gig in Greenville, N.C., Murph Dawg began to see his star rise. "Six or seven years ago, if you told me that I was moving to Greenville, I probably wouldn't have been able to even point to it on a map" adds Murph Dawg. "It taught me to really broaden my horizons even more."
Now enjoying his newfound success with 95.5 The Beat, Murph Dawg couldn't be happier with his career, and the listeners who support him each and every day. "We're truly diverse, as we try to touch everyone," he says. "We have a lot of fun doing what we do." -jason thompson
