rob brown - the consummate professional
Actor
government name: Rob Brown
Line of work: Actor
Possible pick up lines: “Hey baby, not only am I the lead actor for the upcoming flick The Express, but I also played football for Amherst College.”
Movie plot: Brown plays Ernie Davis, who died from leukemia at the age of 23, shortly after becoming the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961.
Brown’s thoughts on the film: “It doesn’t really matter what I think about the film. It matters what people like Jim Brown, Ernie Davis’ family, the people of Syracuse, the people of Cleveland, and the Cleveland Browns organization think. It only matters how they feel about it, and we’ve already gotten those reactions. They’re satisfied with the film, so that’s all that matters to me.
One special moment in time: “It would have to be the entire week that we spent at Syracuse promoting the film. It was really touching. I’ve never been a part of something that big. I really didn’t know what I was getting into, but I quickly found out when I touched down at Syracuse and felt the love that everyone still had for Ernie. It was very powerful.”
Motivations of a (broke) man: The only reason Brown got his first role was he needed some extra money to pay a $300 cell phone bill. He auditioned to be an extra in Finding Forrester, but the director had other ideas. The rest is history. –dewayne rogers
