chef g. garvin - blessed with the magic touch

Celebrity chef G. Garvin can flat out cook. Now as the venerated master chef and television personality readies himself for the release of a highly anticipated third cook book titled Dining In, the Atlanta native hopes to use his platform and celebrity cache to eliminate any and all intimidation felt by novice cooks.

“It takes time to get comfortable in the kitchen,” he explains. “Most of the time that’s the main thing that scares people away from learning how to cook. But with practice, all of those fears can be left behind. My books can help in that process, as they break cooking down on a level where it’s easy to get, and one can feel confident about what they are doing in the kitchen.”

Garvin exudes an unmistakable assurance when discussing all things culinary. As the buzz continues to grow surrounding the release of his latest book, Garvin takes a moment to reflect on the completion of a mission long in the making. “This book is a dream come true to me, as it was all a part of a master plan,” he shares. “I always saw myself releasing a trilogy of sorts with these recipe books, so in a sense this completes the cycle. But it doesn’t complete my mission by any stretch of the imagination.”

Garvin has a detailed plan in place in his ongoing quest for culinary dominance. “I have enough ideas to carry me into the next 10 years,” he says. “Instead of just doing things for the sake of doing them, there is a careful plan in progress. I simply accomplish things as I’m able to get to them and check them off one by one.” - dewayne rogers
