Master Stylist, Lux, the Salon

It only takes a few seconds to become captivated by the energy and glamour that Adrienne Mitchell exudes. At Lux, the Salon in Atlanta’s historic Grant Park neighborhood, the master stylist revs up women’s looks with sensational cuts, bodacious tints of color and super-lush hairstyles. Mitchell’s creations have also graced the pages of Upscale magazine. Here’s what the honey-hued beauty revealed about hair care. –marissa mitchell

What’s hot: “A lot of women want the softer looks like the ‘20s, Harlem Renaissance soft wave. I’ve never seen those looks go out of style. Feathered styles are also hot and in because they allow for more soft, layered tresses. They are timeless looks that always remain trendy.”

Hair care tip: “Always sleep on a satin pillow if all else fails because cotton dries the hair out. The fibers of the hair and the cotton intertwine and the hair breaks. If you don’t like wrapping your hair or if you’re too tired to put a bonnet on, keep your pillow in a satin case and you can protect your hair from damage.”

What makes Lux, the Salon rock? “It’s a diverse salon [that] serves everyone in the community. We provide the best service from all different aspects in styling, for all textures of hair. Women feel amazing when they exit the salon. Even in my observations of other stylists’ work, I’ve never seen a client leave dissatisfied. They come in for a totally different look; and here, they can achieve that. The new hairstyle brightens their whole day.”
