“It’s very important that we make it known how powerful our voices are. I feel like the laws and bills that are passed affect the youth more than anyone else. If you don’t vote, you give up the right to complain about what’s going on in your city or state. By not being a part of the solution, you’re putting yourself in a position to be a part of the problem.
I hope that I can have a positive influence on the youth by encouraging them to show up at the polls during this year’s election. A lot of people don’t take the time to read or watch the news to find out about what’s going on with the candidates. We’ve seen how crucial it was for us during the past two presidential elections. You can see what can happen if you don’t vote.
In the past eight years, we’ve seen how people have fallen deeper into poverty. To overcome poverty, it has to start with the school systems. There are substandard educational systems across the nation. If you can become empowered by receiving a good education, it will allow you to get a job and receive a decent paycheck. But we must also use our education so that we will be the ones who are writing the checks. Getting out there to vote for those who will fight for more educational programs is where it starts. The biggest challenge is to vote for someone who can make a positive change.”
