Actor, Redbelt
You may not recognize the name Chiwetel Ejiofor (Chew-ih-tell Edge-ee-o-for) straightaway, but movie buffs are sure to recognize his face instantly. The Nigerian born actor has appeared in several box office hits, including Denzel Washington’s, American Gangster, Amistad and Four Brothers.

At what age did you begin acting?
I began acting in my early teens and my mom was not thrilled … she wanted me to pursue a more secure profession in the field of medicine like my father. But like most teenagers, I had a strong will and she eventually came around.
What type of movies do you enjoy?
I love all type[s] of movies but I really enjoy the great film classics. Just the other day I was flipping channels and ran across, The Godfather. I only meant to watch for a while but I became totally engrossed in it and that was it, the day was shot!
In your new movie Redbelt, you portray Mike Terry, a celebrated jujitsu teacher who has avoided the fighting circuit but proclaims, “I am a fighter!” Would you describe yourself as a fighter?
I am not a fighter, in that sense. I didn’t have any previous jujitsu experience prior to making this film
