Recording Artist, Da Light
Every once in a while a unique talent comes along and you know they’re destined for greatness — such a unique talent is found in Aaron Sledge. The lyrics of songs on his inaugural solo project, Da Light, will soon be on the lips of everyone within listening range.
When asked about the spiritual title, Sledge said, “Da Light was my way — the way God gave me for seeing my project — a new sound, a new way of doing things, shining the light on a different way of doing and seeing things.”
An urban, inspirational artist, Sledge is confident that his time to shine has come.
“I put in countless numbers of hours, pulling late nights, writing, working with a number of great producers. It has been an amazing journey. I wouldn’t trade the last 12 months for [anything] in the world,” says Sledge, adding that his sound is “oxygen music,” intended to “rescue and recover … go and reach those who’ve been rejected.”
“My mission is to restore and let people know there’s a better way of doing what they’ve been doing,” he adds. “[I] just [want to] encourage the hearts of people everywhere.”
Sledge certainly must be on to something. In addition to appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” with Christine Aguilera, Nelly, Avant and Akon, he’s worked with gospel entertainers Smokie Norful and Yolanda Adams.
His debut recording, “Hold On,” charges the listener with a message of empowerment, combining the two worlds he’s known — secular and faith.
“I believe a writer should take you on a journey … when I pick up a pen, I feel like I’m in a world of my own. I’m the author; I’m in the driver’s seat. I’m responsible for showing you a better way of living and looking at life.”
