It’s important to avoid reckless decision-making. For example, concerning the heated selection of a Democratic nominee for president, we all need to sit back and see what each candidate has to offer. Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have both accomplished great things. Further, considering how women and black people have been treated, the success of both campaigns is a big step for America.
A lot of people believe that white Americans are behind Obama because he’s a nonthreatening black male. But while he doesn’t have the “black man swagger” that you’re used to seeing, he’s a black man in every sense of what it means to be black. The reality is that Obama is a dark-skinned individual in this country and has had to go through things like every other dark-skinned person.
I’m behind Obama because he’s the beginning of our struggle of what we have to overcome. Having Obama win will be a great thing for a lot of people, not just blacks. With the different nationalities coming into our country, it will show people that America is now opening up to the rest of the world.
By Obama earning the support to run for president, it’s a beautiful day in America. But black people are still oppressed. We still have issues like Katrina and Jena 6, but a change is coming. And people who aren’t really down with his message are going to have to deal with it. They don’t want to be the ones who go against him and he ends up being the man in power.
I don’t see any reason why Barack Obama won’t be the next president of [the] United States of America.
