Television Personality
Gorgeous television personality Ananda Lewis is a modest woman. The African American and Native American beauty has a hard time wrapping her mind around the fact that she’s a celebrity. Lewis is returning to BET, her old stomping ground, to host the upcoming “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is” reunion show on Thursday, March 20 at 8 p.m. Lewis witnessed Cole’s arrival on the scene when she was a member of “The John Salley Block Party” FM morning radio team on KKBT “The Beat” in Los Angeles. She says she admires the shooting star because “she’s a fighter and a survivor.” –yvette caslin
What’s in your CD player?
I am very much a fan of [Keyshia Cole’s] music. When I listen to her, I hear her experience, her passion, her pain. A lot of music isn’t doing that these days. Her music really moves you. We don’t have to be stuck with one relationship; if you’re not happy, you shouldn’t be there. I love the way she empowers women.
What are you reading?
Your Word is Your Wand [by Florence Scovel Shinn]. [I’m also reading] an abstract book about a Mexican artist that I love, and a book on memory for idiots. I’m fascinated with the brain — I am a bit of a nerd. Being a nerd is a good thing. You can never know too much.
What are your beauty secrets?
I don’t buy expensive products. I am [a] real girl in the basic ways. The things I love are aloe vera and olive oil. I don’t buy expensive products. Typically, I don’t wear perfume, I wear body oils, but my aunt bought me a bottle of Destiny.
