Author, Getting the Real Out of Starting a Business
Carl Agard was born to be an entrepreneur. After opening a hot dog stand at the age of 16, the Brooklyn native realized that financial freedom could be achieved through ownership. Once he graduated from college, Agard dabbled in party promotions and later started his own real estate firm. With his latest venture, Agard decided to provide the secrets to business success through his new book, Getting the Real Out of Starting a Business.
“Getting the Real Out of Starting a Business is about what you should do every day when you own a business,” Agard says. “It gives insight on how to market, sell and gain a profit from a business.”
As unemployment rates rise in the U.S., Agard wants the book to encourage those who are looking to create their own income through self-employment.
“I want to reach people who have been laid off because of job cuts or have had bad experiences with the job market,” he says. “[The book] shows you how to start your own business so that you can support your family by doing what you like.”
Through his own Adelphi Publishing Company, Agard has released Getting the Real Out of Real Estate I and II, and You Wearin’ That? by his wife, Christy. He plans to release several more books in 2008.
“Adelphi Publishing is taking the game to the next level,” Agard says, adding that he wants to be an example for those who fear making the sacrifice of becoming a business owner. “We want to help people build wealth through entrepreneurship and keep good credit. The best way to control your destiny is to own your destiny.”
