Owner, Designer, Mie Shie
Mie Shi is a beautiful, fashion line that was created to accentuate the voluptuous curves of the full-figured woman. Founder and designer Jennifer Taylor knew that she wanted to make a name for herself in fashion since childhood.
“I’ve [known that I wanted to be a designer] since I was a little girl, watching my grandmother sew at the kitchen table,” says the lovely fashionista, adding that she saw her big chance when she realized that there were few designers that were creating sexy, glamorous clothing for heavier women. Once Taylor recognized the fashion gap, she had no trouble deciding what direction to take for her burgeoning company.
“It wasn’t very difficult [to see the need] because I’m a plus-size woman, and it’s hard to find clothes that actually fit us and accentuate our best assets,” she explains. “I consider Mie Shi to be urban chic with a touch of glam; and [it shows] that a woman can be voluptuous and grown n’ sexy at the same time.”
While Taylor’s excited about having the opportunity to share her talents with customers, she’s especially eager to be an example for her youngest fans.
“This is a dream come true for me. [It’s] a way to [show] my children — especially my daughters — that their mother did it,” she says. “[Then they’ll know that they] can make it.”
