martinique mitchell - more than just a pretty face
Professional Model

The life of a young model can be quite exciting, and for Martinique Mitchell, it has been a great ride.

“I started modeling when I was 16 years old,” says Mitchell, who works with Elite and L.A. Models. “I’ve been doing it for about eight years now, off-and-on. I’ve been in Los Angeles, New York, a little bit of Paris and London — [it’s been] an amazing experience.”

“I was found by a friend who has other friends in the business, and they took me to Ford,” Mitchell recalls of her start with the modeling heavyweight. “The money was amazing, so I stayed with it. Dressing up [with] different designers [and] becoming a different person … [is] fun.”

Mitchell explains that the experience she’s gained while traveling has made her a more cultured person. The Los Angeles native has interacted with a number of different cultures and designers. She’s been involved in several national campaigns, including an exciting new push for General Motors. But, Mitchell doesn’t want to give the impression that the lifestyle of a professional model is all glitz and glamour.

“It’s definitely not looks and glamour; there’s a lot of work behind the scenes. You have to look good and be ready to go and put on that happy face and keep going. It takes a lot of time and a lot of patience,” Mitchell shares, adding that she still wouldn’t change a thing. “For myself, there’s no sacrificing, I do it because I love it and enjoy it.” –todd williams
