Rebecca Briscoe is beautiful … and brainy. Her modeling career is but one illustration of the focus and drive that this sassy Texan has used to make a name for herself in the community. Growing up in Port Arthur, Texas, she knew at a young age what her career ambition would be.

“I did local shows as a youngster, because I knew I was going to be tall and lanky,” she says. “[In] college, I was put on the fashion board, and when I moved to Atlanta, I did professional modeling and was granted an opportunity to go on the Ebony Fashion Fair tour, which was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Briscoe maximized that big break and earned jobs in print media and commercials, including a stint as a spokesperson for Gillette. While she treasured the experiences, the ambitious young woman wanted more. “It got repetitive [for me], so I’ve [been] working behind the scenes,” Briscoe reveals, adding that she’s been doing some acting.

Being from a small town, Briscoe says she’s passionate about giving back and wants to be an example for people in her community.

“[Some] people get consumed with themselves and forget about the community,” she says, vowing it won’t happen to her.

Like any budding mogul, Briscoe always has her eyes set on the future.

“A lot of people haven’t accepted women of color in high fashion,” she says. “But you have to have a vision of where you want to see yourself.” –todd williams
