Dana Divine let nothing deter her from achieving her dream. Divine is a radio personality for WGCI, a singer and songwriter, the creator of the popular Gospel Slide, and the CEO of Tri-M Entertainment. Divine is currently focused on recording and promoting gospel music.
“The greatest advice I can give is to control your own destiny, record your own music and finance your own projects. It was time for me to start my own record company. I had worked for so many record companies before I finally started my own. One thing about [this] business and getting ahead in it is understanding how to network. It will benefit your career and it is critical for professional growth,” says Divine.
Starting her own company in an industry dominated by men, Divine knew should would have to go the extra mile to prove that women can succeed in the industry. She has released a gospel album entitled, A Nu Language through her company while she continues to inspire radio listeners with her “Music of Love and Inspiration” broadcast on Sunday mornings.
“I’ve learned you can’t wait for anyone to move you forward if it is your dream,” she says, “especially being a woman. I really think this is a male business, but there are women at the top. They’ve worked hard ... to get there, but the numbers are still low. I now understand the business side of music, which is more critical than the artistic side.” –adrienne a. gadling
