On August 25, 2001, the world lost an African-American icon who was a true original: Aaliyah Dana Haughton, otherwise known as "Baby Girl." She wasn't the first American recording artist to lose her life in a plane crash, but many of her true fans would declare that this loss was one of the most painful events. This talented and ambitious singer-actress-dancer-model is truly and deeply missed. Here we present a list of 10 musical tragedies, some of whom died enigmatically, but all of whom left us with a cosmic gift: their music.
