D-Mo proves that New York hip-hop can still bring the heat with his debut album, Mo Dollars. On the sure-fire hit single “Doe,” D-Mo gives amateur hustlers a tutorial on getting money and making it multiply. He also shows lyrical dexterity on the laid-back “In My Zone.” Other standouts include “Hustle Hard,” “My World,” and the Southern homage, “A.” Although his flow is reminiscent of G-Unit, D-Mo’s subject matter should put him in the running for hip-hop’s rookie of the year. –amir shaw
