The trio known as Audio Caviar consists of Ralph Johnson, Morris Pleasure and Steen Kyed. Their music on this CD comes off as smooth jazz with an attitude, bolstered by guest vocalists, poppin’ bass guitar, and stylistic variations. “Love Comes In Time” is a purely retro work featuring the Earth, Wind and Fire horns, while “5th House” is a Latin-flavored romp that diversifies the album. The former song takes this music buff back to the fabulous seventies. However, the affair on the whole feels overwrought and even emotionally banal. Better luck next time.   -forrest green III
