For the past 3 1/2 years, the city of Atlanta has gotten to know Austin very well. The voice of the night for 95.5 The Beat, Austin can be heard on the radio each evening from 6 p.m. to midnight.

"We always do 150 percent," he says. "We go above and beyond the call of duty with the listeners, making sure everybody has a good time. That's what you really get when you listen to 95.5 The Beat - it sounds like a party."

A New York native, Austin got his first radio internship when he was only 16 at the nearby Syracuse University radio station.

"I worked my way up from college radio to commercial radio and realized that it wasn't all glamorous getting free CDs and concert tickets; it's actually a lot of hard work and it made me want to work harder and do more," recalls Austin.

With stops also in Buffalo and Pittsburgh, Austin believes that working in Atlanta's populated music market has truly primed him for success.

"I love cracking open the mike and just saying whatever comes to my mind and having people call up and kind of feed back on what I'm talking about; that's a lot of fun," he explains. "Interviewing celebrities is also cool. I can ask the questions that everybody wants to know the answers to and not get punched for it." - jason thompson
