The late J. Dilla would be proud of his good friend and production soul mate, Madlib. On the follow-up to his Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes, Madlib works in the same vain of his lost friend, using everything from accordions to sitars, while giving listeners a catalogue of sounds from any and everywhere that he can find them. Though the album is heavily influenced by the poly-rhythms and ornamentations common in traditional Indian music, Madlib manages to infuse his own unique style. From the cinematic, "Smoke Circle," to the hauntingly soothing "Dark Alley," this 34-track disc has a little something for everybody. - gavin p. godfrey
