Rapper, Life Goes On

Trae Tha Truth was bred amongst some of the best emcees that Houston has to offer. After joining the legendary Screwed Up Click and becoming a member of the Guerilla Maab at 16, Trae began to make a name for himself in the streets of H-town. But those same streets almost cost Trae his career and freedom.

He was exonerated from an aggravated robbery charge that could've ended with him serving 40 years. Once the charges were dropped, Trae decided to leave the street life behind and began to focus on his recording career.

"When you go through situations like that, you learn not to take certain things for granted," Trae says. "I had to start using my brain. I had to find a way to flip what I was doing and make something positive without having to look over my shoulder."

Trae often finds himself mentoring teenagers and close friends on not getting caught up in bad situations. "You have to survive and make money, but you have to do it in a positive way," he says. "I talk to kids and grown-ups and I try to reach out and help the next person." With his album, Life Goes On, scheduled to hit record stores in September, Trae is focusing on the next chapter in his life.

"Life Goes On will be a classic," he says assuredly. "I'm totally different than everybody that's out now." -amir shaw
