Absolutely mesmerizing. That was consensus backstage following Ciara's performance at this year's BET Awards. But in an equal stroke of breaktaking brilliance, the alluring entertainer appeared backstage in a sexy cocktail dress that left every man breathless and every woman a bit green with envy. That's been the life of Ciara lately. With a successful sophomore album still moving impressive units in stores, the sultry vocalist has now turned her attention to doing her due diligence in casting away the pubescent image that some in society still hold of her. With a few more performances like this one, the world will soon embrace her leap into womanhood with open arms.

"I've grown up a lot since you first saw me singing 'Goodies,' " she explains with a laugh. "I'm a woman now, and while you won't see me going over-the-top to prove that point, I am going to show people that I'm very comfortable in my own skin." And just as comfortable on stage to boot. From Beyoncé to Alicia Keys, her fellow female divas-in-arms seemed to all be excited by the wonderful spectacle of Ciara's performance. For the artist herself, all she could think about was the sanctuary that the stage provided her.

'The stage is such a peaceful place for me," she reveals. "When I get out there, and the music begins to play, there's just nothing like it. I just let go, and show the results of all of the hard work that I put in each and every day." - dewayne rogers
