Songstress, Ms. Kelly
Skin is the body's largest organ. Properly moisturized, healthy skin contributes greatly to an overall feeling of well-being. Recently, a poll was conducted to find out how women feel about their skin and appearance. African American women responded with overwhelmingly positive results.
"I know for me, I definitely have to say I'm comfortable in my own skin," says Grammy Award winner Kelly Rowland, adding that taking care of herself has also helped her develop as an artist.
The songstress is also pleased with her latest solo offering. "I feel like with this new album, Ms. Kelly, I've grown a lot. I've grown with my sound and as an artist. I'm very happy about that," she says.
Rowland is a part Vaseline's Skinvoice campaign that encourages women to log onto skinvoice.com and share their thoughts on what their skin means to them.
Rowland will be performing at the Essence Music Festival that's returning home to New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina. This year's festival is being sponsored in part by Vaseline.
"I know they're calling it 'party with a purpose," Rowland says of the festival.
"It's so important for people to come out and give back to the city that's given us so much culture and wonderful food. Myself and the Knowles family built Knowles-Rowland Youth Center. We have temporary housing for families trying to get back on their feet [after] situations that have happened like Katrina. I think that our main purpose is to give back. When you've been blessed, it's important to give back."
