Contrary to its title, Lyfe Change, there’s not much musical difference between introspective singer-songwriter Lyfe Jennings’ third album and its two predecessors. Lyfe still fancies himself the thinking-man’s neo-soul singer, and his thoughtfulness is evident on tracks like the cautionary love tale “It’s Real,” and the cost-of-fame cut “Wild, Wild, Wild.” His lyrical focus is on maturing — he’s always seemed mature anyway. A strong effort nonetheless, and one that’s sure to please longtime fans. -todd williams
