Not many popular rappers can use their vocals like a virtuoso musician wields her or his instrument. The Oakland-born rapper Del tha Funkee Homosapien does just that, though. Del’s first new solo full-length in eight years finds him as colorful, humorous and driven as any of his best efforts to date. This MC’s album gets slightly tedious, but is definitely worthwhile. -forrest green III
