Brooklyn MC AZ returns with his ninth official album, Undeniable. The underappreciated lyricist is still spitting with verve, but he hasn’t come up with an album that can raise his profile. That doesn’t mean that Undeniable is a bad record, “The Game Don’t Stop,” is one of his best cuts in years, “Fire” should be a clear-cut single, and the title track is built for slow rides on Friday nights. But, there isn’t anything that you haven’t heard before subject-wise, and after awhile, it all gets a little mundane. But AZ’s wordplay is still in top form, he just needs to get inspired. -dusty culpepper
