“American Idol” notwithstanding, reality TV hasn’t exactly produced a wealth of legitimate recording stars. Day 26, the stars of Diddy’s “Making the Band 4,” are all competent (if unremarkable) vocalists, but their lack of originality keeps them from rising above the generic material. “If It Wasn’t For You” and “Come With Me” are a couple of standouts, but the predictable mix of loverman come-ons and club-ish cuts get a little dull. Nonetheless, this is a solid debut that offers a crowd-pleasing set of songs, just don’t expect much else. -todd williams
