big noyd - illustrious
Koch Records
On his first release on Koch Records, Queens native Big Noyd of Mobb Deep fame, doesn’t stray from his formula of guns, drugs and the struggle for survival through it all. Produced by Lil’ Fame of M.O.P., Illustrious catches Noyd still trying to establish himself as a solo artist even with this being his fourth studio album. Tracks like “The Paper” and “Nowhere Else to Hide” are definite keepers, but it’s the repetitive nature of cuts like, “Rags to Riches” and “Posted On the Block” that keep a decent album from being very good. -gavin philip godfrey
