OK, what are the odds that two different movies, 16 years apart with the same name would both be excellent flicks. Well, that’s what you have here. Shattered (1991) is one of my all-time favorite mystery movies. The new Shattered pits a decidedly un-Bond like Pierce Brosnan against a very un-Spartan like Gerard Butler. Brosnan plays a sadistic kidnapper who threatens to kill the daughter of an unsuspecting couple if they don’t follow his demands. This is a slow burner of a movie that features some fine performances from both Brosnan and Butler. If you like mysteries, you won’t be disappointed, and let’s not forget the sweet little twist at the end of the movie. This one’s definitely worth buying. - dark abyss
