In today’s climate of racism and injustice, The Trials of Darryl Hunt is another emotional gut check for everyone. This movie chronicles the 20 year battle of one black man to clear his name of rape and murder charges in a blatantly racist judicial system in North Carolina. Using archival footage and present day interviews, the movie painstakingly shows all the bizarre proceedings. One of the most powerful scenes in the movie is when Hunt is offered a deal to get out of jail if he admits his guilt. He refuses and of course, gets more time.
